Child rescued, Kidnapper shot dead after Amber Alert issued

Ah yes, another shining example of why AMBER Alerts exist—because some people apparently think kidnapping a child and murdering two others is a good life choice. The girl's mother and brother are reported to have been shot although they are alive at the moment and are in intensive care. Thankfully, law enforcement swooped in, and the situation ended in Riverside with the suspect neutralized. Crisis averted, but not without unnecessary tragedy.

It’s always heartwarming to see that, despite their best efforts, criminals still underestimate the power of modern technology and a well-coordinated police response. The AMBER Alert system, which some people bizarrely complain about when their phone starts blaring at 3 a.m., did exactly what it was designed to do: get the word out fast and save a child’s life. Imagine that.

Of course, it’s also a sad testament to the times we live in—where horrifying acts like this keep happening, forcing law enforcement to play cleanup. But hey, at least we can take some comfort in the fact that this particular suspect won’t be causing any more chaos. Small victories, right?
